LAWRENCE D. "BUTCH" MORRIS CONDUCTION: Lawrence D. “Butch” Morris’ work includes television, film, theatre, dance, radio, interdisciplinary performance based collaborations and concert and recording settings. As a composer he in known most notably for the development and evolution of Conduction, conducted improvisation and interpretation that transcend culture and geographics to present a new social-logic to the language of music. In the last 15 years he has assembled over 100 ensembles for performance in 14 countries. In 1999, the Bell Atlantic-Jazz Awards nominated him Composer of the year and creative musician of the year. Morris also develops interdisciplinary projects with choreographers such as Min Tanaka, with visual artists such as David Hammons, with writers such as Ntozake Shange, and with theatre artists such as The Wooster Group. He has worked with countless musicians/composers including Alice Coltrane, Gil Evans, Philly Joe Jones, Cecil Taylor, Steve Lacy, David Murray, Don Pullen and Reggie Workman.
Jorge Sylvester Music: JORGE SYLVESTER - Alto Saxophone Alto-saxophonist, conductor, composer, arranger Jorge Sylvester is a unique innovator in the idiom of creative music. Early in his career, Sylvester spent ten years in Europe touring and recording with his various ensembles. He has performed with such notables as Karl Berger, Ed Blackwell, Ramsey Ameen, Marion Brown, Sunny Fortune, Stefon Harris, Tony Moreno, Marvin Sewell, Claudio Roditi, Monte Croft, Rodney Kendrick, David Murray, Sekou Sundiata, Oliver Lake, Kuumba Frank Lacy's Vibe Tribe, Joe Bowie and for the past ten years with vocal artist Nora McCarthy, with whom he co-leads several groups that includes their 20-piece orchestra - ConceptualMotion, The ACE Collective and A Small Dream In Red, voice and saxophone duo. In 2005 Sylvester toured Europe and Israel with the World Saxophone Quartet; performed at the Jazz and Workshops Festival in Podgorica, Montenegro with McCarthy in 2007 and performed with the Panamenian All Star Jazz Band at the Fourth Annual Panama Jazz Festival in 2006 with Carlos Garnett, Danilo Perez ,Billy Cobham, Santi Debriano and Renato Thoms. Mr. Sylvester has recorded 6 CD's as a leader and appeared on countless others.
